不要掛慮任何事物（屬世界的），但要掛慮保持善工（屬天的）。
Be careful for nothing, but be careful to maintain good works.
腓立比書(Philippians) 4:6 應當一無掛慮，只要凡事藉着禱告、祈求，和感謝，將你們所要的告訴神。
4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
4:7 神所賜、出人意外的平安必在基督耶穌裏保守你們的心懷意念。
4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
提多書(Titus) 3:8 這話是可信的。我也願你把這些事切切實實地講明，使那些已信神的人留心做正經事業（或譯：留心行善）。這都是美事，並且與人有益。
3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
不要掛慮屬世界的：
馬太福音(Matthew) 13:22 撒在荊棘裏的，就是人聽了道，後來有世上的思慮、錢財的迷惑把道擠住了，不能結實。
13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
路加福音(Luke) 10:41 耶穌回答說：「馬大！馬大！你為許多的事思慮煩擾，
10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
10:42 但是不可少的只有一件；馬利亞已經選擇那上好的福分，是不能奪去的。」
10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
路加福音(Luke) 21:34 「你們要謹慎，恐怕因貪食、醉酒，並今生的思慮累住你們的心，那日子就如同網羅忽然臨到你們；
21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
也不要不掛慮屬天的：
以賽亞書(Isaiah) 32:9 安逸的婦女啊，起來聽我的聲音！無慮的女子啊，側耳聽我的言語！
32:9 Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.
以賽亞書(Isaiah) 47:8 你這專好宴樂、安然居住的，現在當聽這話。你心中說：惟有我，除我以外再沒有別的。我必不致寡居，也不遭喪子之事。
47:8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
兩種掛慮的對比：
哥林多前書(1 Corinthians) 7:32 我願你們無所掛慮。沒有娶妻的，是為主的事掛慮，想怎樣叫主喜悅。
7:32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
7:33 娶了妻的，是為世上的事掛慮，想怎樣叫妻子喜悅。
7:33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
7:34 婦人和處女也有分別。沒有出嫁的，是為主的事掛慮，要身體、靈魂都聖潔；已經出嫁的，是為世上的事掛慮，想怎樣叫丈夫喜悅。
7:34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
肢體要彼此掛慮：
哥林多前書(1 Corinthians) 12:25 免得身上分門別類，總要肢體彼此相顧。
12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
掛慮的方式：只要凡事藉着禱告、祈求，和感謝，將你們所要的告訴神！
