“The well that the princes made, that the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter and with their staffs.” And from the wilderness they went on to Mattanah,”

The well that the princes made,

Princes H8269: a head person of any rank or class; captain that had rule; chief; governor; keeper; master. From H8323: to have dominion; make self a rule.


“In which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”

That the nobles of the people dug,


The nobles H5081: that is generous; magnanimous; a grandee (sometimes a tyrant; willing hearted. From H5068: to impel; to volunteer as a soldier; offer self willingly.

Dug H3738: to dig; to plot; to open; open banquet.

“The insolent have dug pitfalls for me; they do not live according to your law.”

“He makes a pit, digging it out, and falls into the hole that he has made.”

With the scepter H2710: to hack; engrave (to be a scribe simply); to enact (laws being cut in stone to metal tablets in primitive times); appoint decree.

Mattanah H4980: a place in the Desert; the same as H4979: a present; (in a good sense) a sacrificial offering, (in a bad sense) a bribe; gift; Feminine of H4976: a present; reward; from H5414: to give; add; appoint; be healed; bring forth; deliver up without fail; take to God.
